Ways To Bet On Hockey

Are you a hockey fan? Even if you arenӴ, you should know that hockey is a fast-paced, thrilling game that everyone can enjoy. And as with many other sports, putting a little money on the game brings an added level of excitement.

Many online gambling sites offer hockey bets along with regular sports betting and online casino games ֠but how does one bet on hockey? There are two basic ways to put down a hockey bet: the money line and the puck line.

Money Line in Hockey

The simplest way to make a bet in hockey is according to the money line. The money line is simply a different way of expressing the odds. For example, a game may have a money line of Ottawa +110/-130 Carolina. This means that to bet on Ottawa, you can wager $100 to win $110, but to bet on Carolina, you must bet $130 to win $100.

Hockey usually follows a Ӳ0 cent rule,Ԡmeaning there is generally a base 20-point difference between the favorite and the underdog, though this is not always the case.

Puck Line in Hockey

With the puck line, like the run line in baseball, a bettor picking the underdog will get a little edge. A bettor picking the favorite will lose an edge, but gain better odds.

For example, the puck line for the above game might be Ottawa +1.5 -110/ -1.5 +110 Carolina. This would mean that if you are betting on Ottawa, you would have to bet $110 to win $100, however, even if Ottawa loses, you would win the bet if Carolina won by no more than one goal. On the other side, a Carolina bet now gets $110 for a $100 bet, but the team must win by more than one goal.

Over/Under in Hockey

As in football betting, bettors can bet on the total number of goals scored in a game. For example, if the over/under in a particular hockey game is 5, the bettor wins an over bet if more than five total goals are scored in the game, and wins an under bet if fewer than five goals are scored. These totals may also be affected by odds. For example, you may need to risk $110 to win $100 if you bet over.
